On the plane again

Before I even nearly documented the amazing year spent in Pittsburgh, lucky me is traveling yet again to a new continent, to work with my sweetheart Marc and a team of other students on a water filtering project in Cambodia.

Partante de nouveau

Eh ben, qu'est-ce qu'il était court, cet arrêt en Suisse! Lundi déjà, je quitte le sol hélvetique pour trois autres mois à l'étranger, cette fois en direction opposé (faut pouvoir comparer les jet-lags :)), plus précisement pour la Thailande et ensuite le Cambodge.
Pour tous vous tenir au courant, je vous introduit ici à deux nouveaux blogs (désolée de vous compliquer la vie :)). Le premier,

sera écrit de moi et mon chéri Marc avec des impressions personnels sur le pays, le voyage et tout nos adventures là-bas. (Tout ceux qui ont déjà lu mon blog ne seront pas trompé par la formulation: On fera de mieux de vous écrire de certains... pour écouter le reste, il faudra bien sûr qu'on se donnera rendez-vous à la rentrée! :))

Ensuite, avec tous le team de cinq, on décrira le projet de filtration d'eau, notre occupation première, en plus de détails sur

Ce blog sera uniquement en anglais mais heureusement que vous déchirez tous.

Et puis, no souci, je serai de retour en Septembre pour recommencer mes études comme une Suisse responsable. ;)

Die Ferne ruft erneut

Hoppla, da ist meine Zeit in der Schweiz auch schon wieder um, kaum hat sie angefangen: Am Montag fliege ich nach Bangkok mit Endstation Phnom Penh, Kambodscha. Während drei Monaten werde ich, zusammen mit drei andern Studenten und meinem Chéri, an einem Wasserfilter-Projekt arbeiten.
Um diese besondere Reise zu feiern, gibts gleich zwei neue Blogadressen:

Die erste der beiden Internetseiten widerspiegelt persönliche Eindrücke von Marc und mir, während der zweite ganz aufs Filterprojekt bezogen ist und ausschliesslich in Englisch geschrieben sein wird.

Grease in echt

Carnival

Jedes Jahr bauen die Studenten der CMU ihren eigenen Jahrmarkt, den Carnival. Und so kurz vor dem Abschluss meines Bachelorstudiums, eine "Chilbi" direkt auf dem Universitätsgelände, war für mich fast schon eine Verwirklichung des Grease-Musicals!
– Auf jeden Fall war ich tiefst beeindruckt vom gestalterischen Talent der Studentenverbindungen!

Super pastors

Every first Sunday of the month, we share communion at East Liberty Presbyterian Church: My monthly astonishment at the immense power of American pastors, whether male or female, young or old, sporty or full figured. You know how we Catholics have pre-cut hosts of about 1mm thickness, that must function much like a potato chip when it comes to break-resistance?

– Well, not so here. Courageously, the pastor holds up a full two-pound loaf of bread, gives thanks, and breaks it, EFFORTLESSLY!!

I regularly catch myself in sheer admiration for such superhuman strength instead of focusing on the spiritual significance of the event for my own life.

And I remember the fundamental difference between our two continents: Crust-free bread!
